Other Issues

Here are other issues that some encounter.

I always see SeizAlarm on my Watch and I can't see my clock

Always seeing the SeizAlarm app used to be an Apple requirement that was necessary for SeizAlarm to access the sensors on the Watch.  This is no longer the case, but it defaults to always showing SeizAlarm while monitoring is active.  The good news is that there is a way to change it now so that always see your watch face by default.  Below are the instructions on how to do that.

  1. Open Apple’s “Watch” app on the iPhone.
  2. Next tap on “General”
  3. Then tap on “Return to Clock”
  4. Find “SeizAlarm” in the listing of app and tap on it.
  5. Turn off “Return to App”

After you do this, you should see your watch face instead of the SeizAlarm app when the screen comes on.

My emergency contacts are not receiving help request text messages

There are several possible reasons why your contacts aren’t receiving help requests via text.  The first thing to check is to make sure that “Text” is toggled on for the contact. Also, check to make sure that phone number is correct and formatted in international format if the contact resides outside of the US.

More potential reasons

I am getting a "No valid session, login to app using phone" error and I am logged in

For the Watch app to work you must have the iPhone app open on the iPhone that is paired with the Watch and be logged in.  If you are logged in and you are still getting the “No valid session, login to app using phone” error message do the following:

  1. Delete the app
  2. Restart the Watch
  3. Reinstall the app.

This should resolve the issue.

My GPS location is not being sent

On your iPhone navigate to Settings → PrivacyLocation Services and make sure that “Location Services” is enabled.  Swipe down and find “SeizAlarm” in the app listing on the “Location Services” page and make sure that the setting is set to “Always”.

It is also possible that your GPS signal isn’t strong and your location can not be determined at that time.

How do I manage my subscription?

Managing your subscription is done via iTunes on your iPhone. SeizAlarm uses Apple’s built-in subscription system so we are not able to help you with billing or subscription management. Apple has published a support article that walks you through the process of managing your subscriptions. View, change or cancel your subscriptions

How does help request text message opt-in and opt-out work?

When you add an emergency contact’s phone number within the app, they are sent an email asking them to opt-in if they would like to receive your help requests via text message.  If they opt-in by clicking an opt-in link within the email, then help requests will be sent to them if a potential seizure has been detected.

Emergency contacts can opt-out at anytime by simply responding with “STOP” to any message received from SeizAlarm to no longer be contacted via text.  Additionally, within the app, you can disable text messages as a method to deliver help requests to them.

If you or your emergency contacts have a non-US phone number, message rates may apply if your/their mobile plan charges for incoming messages from US-based phone numbers. Text messages are only sent for help requests and are not used for other communication purposes.
